Have your say about the Port Fairy Town Centre

Feb 2, 2023 | News

In 2022, the Moyne Shire Council decided to undertake a visioning process for the Port Fairy town centre to review the various projects and initiatives that were proposed and already underway, and to allow the community a chance to share their views and ideas around the current issues, opportunities and priorities for Port Fairy. The aim of the process was to establish a vision that pulls together all the different projects and provide a clear and exciting direction for the future of the Port Fairy town centre.

To commence the process, an initial Placemaking workshop process was undertaken with local traders, Councillors and key Council staff to start a discussion around the issues that the Town Centre is currently facing, and to share ideas on how the area could be improved.

The DRAFT Port Fairy Town Centre Place Guide provides a summary of the process undertaken, the stakeholder input and key findings, and suggests potential projects that could be undertaken to bring the vision to life. The Draft Place Guide is a starting point only and is meant to be used as a discussion point, a basis for further consultation, input and other ideas from the broader community, and to get people excited and sharing their own ideas and talking about the opportunities.

In this way the Draft Place Guide is intended to act as a catalyst for further discussion, and can be refined as part of ongoing consultation, and as different projects come to life.

The Draft Place Guide will be open to community consultation until Thursday 2 March 2023.
